Repeater Abuse

Repeater abuse is a national problem, and needs to be tackled quickly to reduce its survival on the repeaters.

There is a standard response to repeater abuse, IGNORE IT.

Some people however, can't do that, and feel they must 'have a go' at the person or thing causing the abuse, and aggravate the situation.

If you can't ignore it and it makes you angry, put your anger to some useful purpose, fill in the abuse report form and send it to Mike GW8ERA, who will collate the reports and forward them to Ofcom on your behalf.

Alternatively, you can clicking on the link below :-

www.ofcom.org/radiocomms/ifi/licensing/classes/amateur/information/misuse_aradio

which covers abuse and provides contact information including the contact telephone number for Ofcom and details for contacting AROS at the RSGB.

I am advised that, by following the advice on that page, it will ensure that the matter is progressed correctly.

Please make sure you have the information correct if you contact Ofcom directly, you'll look, and sound, a right pillock if you phone them and can't give them the correct information to work with.

What information you need as a minimum :-

        Your Name and Call-sign,
The call-sign of the repeater that is being abused,
The call-sign or name of the person that's causing the abuse,
Confirmation that you have contacted the repeater keeper or the repeater group responsible for the repeater,

If you write to, or e-mail, Ofcom, please send a copy of your letter or e-mail to Mike GW8ERA, so he is kept fully aware of the situation.

Please DO NOT take the law into your own hands and pay a visit to the person responsible, it could end up with you facing legal action for trespass at a minimum.
